The tartness of the cranberry juice is getting to you, haha. Wow, I'm glad you're okay from that kidney infection.

I think it was just in like super early stages. Still sucked horribly though. Plus the doc had me on meds that just made me feel sicker. Had to switch antibiotics halfway through because of it too. Not to mention I couldn't eat, so I lost a bunch of weight. Could do without that, since I just got a new job. lol
And I couldn't find the plain unsweetened stuff so I had to settle for the cocktail. Still messing with me though.

Get better soon. :) I hope you're able to get to the doctor tomorrow ASAP.

Thanks, I appreciate that. :)

I think what I'm going to do is snack on some tortilla chips or something to make my stomach suck a little less at life.

I know how you feel! ^^ My doctor used to make me drink cranberry when I was younger. I hated it then. I actually really like it now...
It suckes when an illness forces you to lose wait. Hasn't happened to me dramatically since I was 11, but two years ago my mother had to have her large intestine removed and she dropped a massive amount from it. Partially because of the loss of a major internal organ, partially because of how much it stuffs up your digestive system.

I LOVE Cranberry Juice. Between the amount of lemonade, grapefruit juice and Cran-Grape Juice/Cranberry Juice I have drank, in the last 3 years I haven't gotten sick (All the Vit. C) and I have even kissed my BF when he was really sick once :P (And I have never had a UTI before. Am soo grateful for that one cus I was told they are painful)

Anti-rant: I am about to go get more Panda Express for dinner!

I've been drinking the Ocean Spray diet sparkling cranberry juice. It's good.

Brace yourselves, guys, rant a-coming.

GAH! I hate the way my sister's goldfish is treat. Yes, he's in a 23 gallon, but it's just not big enough. He's a comet. He needs 55 gallons. I can't seem to convince my sister that the pond I'm building would be the perfect home for him. It's 2 ft deep and he'd be going into it in the height of Australian summer. HE'S NOT GOING TO FREEZE WHEN WINTER COMES AROUND. He's currently 9 inches long in a 2 ft tank. He can swim his own body length before he needs to turn around. He has nothing in his tank but some elodea that I give him from my tanks.
What bugs me far more, though, is the water change schedule. A comet plus a mystery snail means weekly 1/3 changes in a tank that small, in my view. He's lucky if he gets done once a month. What's worse, my sister doesn't do it herself. During the term she claims she never has enough time. As if! I am doing the same degree (admittedly, I am doing a language major instead of an IR major, so I have a little bit less reading), I study an instrument extra-cirricularly too, we have the same job (but I have more work from it), plus I am involved in other activities (martial arts, dance, youth group at church, and a social life in general) and I manage to do daily changes on two fish tanks and feed, clean and socialise five rats in their enormous cage! There is never an excuse to neglect your animals. If I asked my mother to do water changes on my tank because I was "too busy" she'd give me a lecture on how my animals were clearly too much for me. But she does them for my sister. The trouble is, they don't get done ENOUGH. I tell her it needs to be done once a week, but he's lucky if he gets one once a fortnight. Once a month is more normal. I have offered to do it myself but for reasons nobody has clearly explained to me, I'm not allowed. It would add a total of 30 minutes to my schedule per week, since I'd just change 2.5 gallons/10 litres 3 times a week for a 33% change. I can do a 10 litre water change in ten minutes.
One totally implausible reason I've been given as to why I can't do it is because "I do it wrong." I'm a member of goodness knows how many forums, a committee member for the local aquarium society and have given over probably weeks of my free time to research EXACTLY

(Sorry, that randomly posted mid-rant).

...exactly how to care for fish, including a massive number of fish that I don't even own. But because I don't do it the way that the AquaOne hand book tells me to, I must be doing it wrong. I do a simple 10% change 3 times a week, using Prime, and once a month I swish out the filter media in dirty water. She does a 40 litre water change once a month, rinses the filter stuff in tap water, and adds hardness salts and pH balancer to the water, because the man in the shop whose job it is to sell her all this extraneous crud told her it was a good thing to do. Yes, he's a lovely guy and does know his stuff in most areas, but he makes a lot of mistakes, too (e.g. all bettas being stressed by big tanks).

I've told my sister that her treatment is neglectful and he will never live his full lifespan. She told me she doesn't want him to live his full lifespan. I can't get her to understand that that is totally the wrong attitude to take to a pet. Pets are a responsibility, and if you aren't prepared to take that, you shouldn't have one. She wants to keep him because she'd like looking at him and would miss him if she went. Then why the flying heck will she not take care of him properly? She tells me "he's happy", her reasoning being that he isn't sick. I'm at the end of my tether. She doesn't care about the results of the ammonia test I've done (it gets as high as 0.5). Argh!
My dad agrees with me, though he thinks I'm a bit of a fish extremist, but he's not prepared to do anything about it. He wants to keep the fish in the house instead of sending him to the pond and wants us to get a bigger tank for him, but that would mean two things: a) my betta tank would be forced out, and b) if my sister won't clean a 23 gallon, why on earth does he think she'd be any better with a 55 gallon? At least in the pond he'd be with the goldfish I am going to buy and therefore under my jurisdiction for water changes.

He is such a pretty fish and deserves so much better. :( I just don't get why she can't make the effort. Lack of time is not a valid excuse.
