Unbelievable, Purple. The whole mess sounds just unbelievable. And of course, let the animal in question be furry and "cuddly" and all heck would be let loose. You'd have animal rights groups from across the globe raising a fuss. But a snake? Apparently, snakes aren't animals and thus not entitled to the protection of an animal rights group. I was being sarcastic, of course. I hope someone gets bitten and bitten hard during this . . . this thing you're describing.

That's so sad! I love snakes. They are wonderful animals and deserve the same respect as any other living creature. If you are going to kill them, do it fast, painlessly and efficiently. If you are going to milk them for venom, there are humane methods of doing so! And why would people do such a thing to a species with so few left? :(

I actually had a woman ask me what kind of bug a snake was!

Being in the heart of it all (texas) I guess I feel really close to the matter. I know people from new york who are actually flying down to get involved in stopping these things. Being right here--I feel responsible when not enough is done and these things happen anyway.

It all is bleh! Shouldn't HAVE to tell people to stop torturing animals, right? You'd think it'd be common sense or at least common decency!

I agree. I know some people don't like signing petitions, but if anyone is willing to, this would really help out. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/121/p...pecies-status/

They might not be as good as contacting governors and state representatives, but a petition shows that there are a lot of people really concerned about a serious problem. I'm just trying to get the word out at least. It's okay if no one wants to sign, though.

My baby boy Kai has popeye. It's not too bad and I hope he doesn't lose vision in that eye. I would never forgive myself if he didn't recover from this when it was so easily prevented.
