My current rant is that the green in the LED light bulb for my tank is starting to go. There's no replacement bulb out there for this light, so if I ever have to replace the bulb, it's going to have to probably be a regular fluorescent or I am going to have to try to rig something. Stupid, faulty LED bulbs.
This is one of the biggest threads I've ever seen. lol 12,000 posts.
Anyways rant - some girl at petsmart talked me into buying a bulb for a planted tank that doesn't fit my hood. Its my bad more than anything. But I hate that I have to make another trip out there to return the bulb and to find ANOTHER location where they might have an 18 inch (correct) bulb. The one I bought is a screw in type for a different type of hood. lol
My rant of the day is actually more of a prayer/positive thoughts request. I went to a Zumba Master class tonight that was part of a fundraiser for the AHA, organized by a Zumba instructor that had heart surgery this past October. After the 3rd routine, (she only did the opening one) she collapsed and didn't have a pulse, no resp. 911 was called immediately & CPR was performed. Paramedics arrived quickly, but she's now on a vent in the hospital. Any thoughts and prayers for her would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
I'm so sorry about your instructor! She'll be in my prayers.
Thanks so much DQ! As of this morning, she was fighting the tube and they were able to take her off the ventilator. Hopefully she comes through this okay :)
I have on several occasions, on several betta-focussed websites, seen Veiltails described as 'mutts' and in other derogatory terms. "May as well breed veiltails", meaning "will never produce a worthy fish" and the like.
How completely, utterly rude.
That's like me calling your double-rosetail-dragon-dalmation-plakat-whatever a sad little inbred freak, or a deformed handbag fish. I am fairly sure there'd be some noses out of joint were I to post anything like that on a betta forum. Not that I'd dream of doing so because my head is not planted up my ass quite that far, and IMO all bettas are beautiful.
But hey - it's okay to call my fish a mutt? As if the lives of some bettas are just WORTH JUST SO MUCH MORE than those of other bettas, because they're currently in fashion at shows? Never mind that when you insult my fish by calling him a 'mutt' and so forth, you are by association insulting ME as a devoted keeper of said 'unworthy' creature.
I am fairly certain I must take up some kind of vociferous objection to this attitude next time I observe it.
