Some see hallucinations, some hear voices, some experience both. There are so many other things that come into play as well. It's a very complex mental disorder.

I get what you mean about fighting it in silence. I have just a seasonal depression, my only perscription is getting enough sunlight in the winter.. but it still gets bad, I can't even imagine how you must feel some days. You just gotta keep fighting it! :)

Thank you for the support. I always tell myself to just keep fighting it, and it really does help. I also try and keep in mind that things could be worse. Sunlight is very good for depression. On nice days I like to lay out for about 30 minutes.

*hugs back* Exactly! Sometimes even my mom can have a hard time understanding it which can get frustrating. With MDD, it doesn't matter if my life is wonderful, I will get depressed without any reason. It is a chemical imbalance in my brain.

Nothing bothers me more than people who are just like "get over it and be happy already!" Depression isn't just feeling really sad, it's more like feeling empty. You don't want to go anywhere or do anything or see anyone. You just feel like a soulless shell ... that's not something that you can "snap out" of!! >:(

+1 billion! I couldn't agree more. I'm sorry it runs in your family too.
I have a mixed bag of mental illness also, so I can totally relate. Major Depression Disorder was the first diagnose back when I was hospitalized for being suicidal. I'm also a self-harmer (haven't done it for months though!), insomniac, and have severe social anxiety. Fun times!

Lion Calie, I hope you start feeling better soon.

Thank you, I'm actually feeling quite a lot better than I did earlier today.
