I hate snitches and adults who are supposed to be adults yet act like teenage dramaqueens. Grow up. Then again emotional intelligence and maturity isnt always level with biological age. Maybe that's why you only relate to and with teenagers.

I want to rant about the fact that many cat owners in America seem to think that declawing cats is no worse for them than trimming their claws.

If I see one more post about someone recommending a cat be declawed, or someone talking about how they are getting their new cat declawed so their furniture doesn't get scratched, I am going to scream (I am talking about other forums, not this one).

Scratching is a normal behaviour for cats. Our four cats certainly seem to derive a lot of enjoyment from scratching (we have three very well-used posts for them), and I can't understand why people feel it's perfectly reasonable to basically amputate their toes to the first joint to prevent them from engaging in this perfectly natural cat behaviour.

Animals are very stoic. Even house pets are often reluctant to show signs of pain. If people suffer from phantom pains after amputations, I wonder if the same can be said for cats. I've also read about what happens when declawing goes wrong and that seems like a lot of needless suffering.

There must be a reason so many countries have banned or placed extremely heavy restrictions on the practice. I mean even in a country such as Brazil it is apparently not allowed.

I don't buy the excuse that it is better for a cat to be declawed and in a home than to have it abandoned at the shelter. The kind of individual that dumps a cat at a shelter because it scratched a couch doesn't sound like the kind of person that should be owning a cat anyway.
