RANT: Stayed up late to get a mother dog and her two nursng puppies (all covered in mange) adopted... did the impossile and I DID IT... they are now in their forever home... (I got NO credit from the other volunteers or ANYTHING... another lady got the props for it)
Then I found out that the same day that family was picked up, ANOTHER mother dog and her three puppies (also covered in mange) were dropped off... I AGAIN did the impossible and found them a rescue... only to find out they are labeled unadoptable
(they were running with a pack of dogs, one dog bit a lady... we know which one, hes aggressive, but because the lady cant confirm which one did it, they are ALL being euthanized... including the mom and her puppies)
and to make matter worse, the stupid shelter director decided that a 6 week old puppy that was dropped of today should be put down today, we talked him out of it... but only bought the little guy till tomorrow... and no one is willing to take him!!!!
Rant: Babysitting my cousin for the next couple of days.It can be enjoyable at times, but I HATE children. I really do. I have my days where I could sit and play with kids for hours, but there are days like today where they can drive me mad! It seems like my maternal instinct only kicks in with infants and animals. And when my boyfriend gets sick. But that's pretty much the extent of it. I love my cousin, don't get me wrong, but he can drive me crazy sometimes... Too much energy.
I know, we have a rescue that will take the puppy if we can find him a foster... no luck so far :(
and nothing that can be done about the mom and her three pups
and two puppies came in right before the shelter closed... someone tried to STARVE them!!!! I swear, sometimes I think people have no hope, then someting amazing happens (like with Taylor.. the original mange family, two pups, getting adopted, and it turn out Taylor, the mom, has every worm imaginiable, including heatworms, ontop of the mange, such a sweet girl and the family who adopted them are amazing)
Littlebettas... That's awful. I hate the thought of euthanasia, unless it's in the best interest of the animal, not the convenience of the people running the place. Hopefully once I become a vet assistant/tech/whatever, I can work with a no-kill shelter.
