The shelter really has no option, 20 pens, with at least 10 dogs (normally 20 or more) coming in every day, only 2 or 3 adoptions every day, it would be SO much easier, and we wold get more adoptions, if we had someone to d temperment tests, we dont euthanize for our convinience, we euthanize because we have no choice, large number of dogs breed diseases, just last week we almost had a complete parvo out break, I applaud you for wanting o help out at a no-kill animal shelter, I volunteer at a no-kill shelter also, but the number of dogs that are turned away due to lack of room is amazing, most of the dogs at the no-kill shelter have been there over 5 years, one girl was born there and died there (13 years without a home)
Good news is I just got one of the starved puppies adopted, her new mommy is picking her up in the morning :)
now working on her brother and the pretty little boy
adoption fee is $90 and includes rabies ($21) microchipping ($30) and spay/neuter ($100 to $200)

Rant:

Alle's had raised scales on one cheek for a week or so. I gave him a high-concentrate of epsom bath and it worsened, so he's now in an antibiotic..

But apparently, he's getting worse. I wish he was with me, not only in case he passes away, but Dan just plain doesnt seem to notice HUGE changes on his/my fish when sick...

He wants me to post about it, but... Dan, Im one of the people who gives out answers. I know whats wrong, and I cant do anything more. Its up to Alle to get better now.

I want him to stop pushing it. That, and pay better attention. :/ (How do you not notice a big chunk of scales missing and becoming fuzzy?!)

Thankies, DQ. I hope he does, too. Alle is a pretty old fellow, he was at least 6 months when I got him, probably a year. Its almost his with-me birthday, though...Id be so sad to have had my buddy less than a year.

He's a grumpy guy, but he's too young to go. I really dont want to lose my baby when he's not even at home with me...

I couldnt even bury him at my house if he does.. ;__;

I'd only had Zekie six months when he passed. I have to conclude that he had a heart attack or a stroke, or something internal, because there was nothing to go off of when he died.

Oh I'm not saying that it's solely convenience. I totally understand the reasons why it has to be done... I'm sorry if I came off wrong... And if I'm going to be going into the veterinary field I'm going to need to come to terms with the fact eventually... I just think in some shelters it's WAY overdone. But the overpopulation/maltreatment problem just flat out sucks. I wish there was more we could do.

not really a rant..

It hurts so bad when, after months of denying it, you finaly realize you have no friends. For all the people you know...for all the people you have known...no one can actualy be called a friend. They are always to busy for you...but never for someone else. They never text, never call...never respond when you say something to them...break promises and dates...when you get to the point that you admit to your self that you are alone. You surround your self with a creature that never interested you before, just to feel less alone. You stop going outside and doing what you love becuse you start to feel its pointless to do so, no one cares what you accomplish anyway. When on the 4th of july, you are sitting at home with nothing to do, and no one even thinks to ask if you would like to hang out...

That's how I feel about a lot of my so-called friends. I can count on one hand the number of true friends that I have.
