I agree with what OFL is saying, but I think the people we rant about are the people who *don't* take advice and they don't listen to reason. They only hear/believe what they want to. Someone not knowing what they're doing doesn't anger me; it's when they choose to not listen to other more expirienced members.

I'm more than happy to give advice to and maybe befriend someone who is willing to listen. But I'm not one for playing nice-nice with a member who is going to "yell" at the members trying to help. Maybe that's how they're wired, but I don't think it's any excuse to join a community and be rude to it's members right off the bat.

And I'm sorry, but in that guy's case, it really is a case of "if you can't provide for it, don't get it." He already has one he should fous on providing for.

I told the person, who didn't have any idea about bettas not to breed them because it wouldn't be a good decision with reasons.. I persisted but they thought it would be "cool".. People like that don't seem to learn and it is pretty frustrating. :(

What I don't care for is when people start threads with "First off I don't want to hear any criticism from anyone about how I take care of my fish. " Stuff like that just rubs people the wrong way.Then they say something like "I have my fish in a .5 gallon container and I change the water once a month". How can we not say something? But the thing is, we need to say it in a nice way.

And then it's immediately followed by someone saying that they do something against the "accepted method": keeping them in less than a gallon, things of that sort. With some things, there just isn't room for opinion. People may disagree with how big a yard for a dog should be, but everyone will agree that you shouldn't lock them in a crate 24/7. Things like that.

We say it in a nice way (as nice as we can) there... But then we have to vent somewhere.. I don't think I've ever made fun of someone for not writing proper spelling and stuff though, I wouldn't.. I have family who can't speak English properly, it's not their first language.. :/

I keep forgetting you're in a totally different country with a totally different time zone. lol it's only 8PM where I am!

And yes, as a server, if I could never rant after a shift and get frustrations off of my chest I would go insane. Kind of the same thing here.

Yeah, there are very few people in real life who you can talk about these fishy things to.. That's why I love this place..

I don't think its acceptable to make fun of people for how they spell but I do think its acceptable to expect them to at least use some form of a spell check. Generally you can tell when someone is from a different country but if your location says USA and your spelling things worse than an 8 year old there's something wrong. I really don't think its "overly critical" to ask someone to please try and use correct spelling. It makes their posts more understandable and thus makes it easier for us to provide helpful information.
