Actually a good way to combat hair algae is to dose Flourish Excel. I started pouring in a dose every day and doing regular maintenance and my hair algae went away. Less light helps too. I think it's a part of a tank's maturation. Firs you get brown algae/diatoms, then hair algae, then who knows what.
Ive heard that, yeah. I would do a dip on them, not my whole tank. My moss, anacharis and a few other plants would suffer :( That's why I dont use it regularly.
It does come off, though. Nasty crap!! D:< I was gonna do a bleach dip, but that requires work. No thanks.
I have to go at some point to petsmart, so I might pick some excel up. Not sure :( I want regular flourish, but I have a really good fert. already and should just wait.
I also want Flourite substrate >.<!! We'll see.
I might go the less light route, too. Its gone down for the time from 10-12 to maybe 8-/+. Maybe that'll help out. My snail's like FFFF, not gonna touch that stuff.
She does not want.
Sorry the pics are big ><
