Fins clamp?

My HMPK caudal fins clamp sometimes after conditioning him, or changing water, and today after putting him in in his 1g tank, his fins clamp. I make him flare when he clamps. After 5 mins, he's back to normal. What could be the possible reasons for him clamping his fins?

What do you do to the fish to "condition" him?

It's possible it's just a temporary response to him being a bit stressed out. Make sure he has plenty of things to hide in at all levels of the tank, usually I use at least one cave near the bottom and at least one bushy plant with large leaves that covers the middle and top sections of the tank.

When you change the water, try to acclimate the fish a little more slowly. I think he is just being a little high-strung.
