Double Vail Tail?????

I got my new betta Ace today at the pet store...up untill a few min ago i havent seen him flare...when i did i saw his fins split...i dont know if its damage or if he is a double vail tail?? any suggestions?

Hes very pretty :)
Is there anything 'sharp' in the tank?
Like plastic plants or rocks?
If not, he IS probably a Double veil tail :)

that plant...but the tail was like that when i got him..and the plant isnt sharp...i checked.....yay im so happy if he really is a dvt...that would be cool

I think that is tail damage. A double tail will have a very long dorsal fin in addition to having two lobes. It looks like he split his fin to me.

but his doral fin is pretty long...longer than Jaws's fin

It looks like damage to me. Typically, a DTs dorsal fin is exaggerated. This may be because the genes cause the top and bottom of the fish to mimic each other.

Note the large dorsal.
