Because my little brother insists he wants Puffy out of the 10 gallon community tank and into the the divided 10 gallon with Simba when it's done, I'm gonna have to do so eventually . Well, when I do, I'll keep the 10 gallon tank as just a community tank, without a betta, which means there'd only be 4 harlequins and one pee-wee shrimp. What are some nice colorful community fish I could put in there?
Guppies, platys, mollies, catfish, neon tetras, cardinal tetras, and balloon mollies just to name a few! :D Btw, all the tetras i listed are schooling fish so you will need at least 3 of them. Catfish are shoaling fish and you will need at least 2 or 4 of them although catfish i have had did great alone.
Hmmm, well I did a good bit of research, and every single sight says regular mollies grow about 4-6 inches depending on the species and require at least 20 gallons, so they'll be a no go.
4"-6"?!?!?!?! I have never seen a molly that big! I had a few (i forget what species, but they were all black) for a while and they were the biggest I have seen, maybe 3" or so. For one to reach 6" I think it would have to be an old fish, and a certain breed. But maybe I just happened to get some that dont grow that big....
I had them in my 17 gallon and they didnt do very good.. (they all died pretty fast) I would'nt get them. When i suggested them i forgot that we were talking about a 10 galllon (sorry!!)I have never kept balloon mollys before howevery so you could give them a shot i think!
Some types, apparently so. I've had balloon mollies before (like 6 years ago), but now my water is a bit too acidic and soft for them, and they are a bit nippy sometimes, and their diet is more vegetarian then carnivorous, which means regular tropical fish food wouldn't be good enough for them :P. Platys look nice, and aren't brackish fish, and they're more carnivorous, or so my reasearch says, and most of the time aren't nippy, so they sound good for my aquarium, but I'd love to have someone with experience with them give me his or her opinions.
