Question Divided Tank Filtration

I finally divided my sorority up! Yipeee! So now they are all stuck in their nasty little betta cups until I wake up in the morning and decided if the water is looking good, and if I can come up with a filter that can filter out all three sections. I'm on a budget and only have one filter. That one filter is perfectly capable of filtering an aquarium of 10 gallons (mines 10 gallons), but the dividers are stopping it from properly filtering all the sections.

I'm on a budget. I just wanted to know if there was any way to make this one filter properly filter out all three sections, or make it so there are three intake valves. I was looking around and found some DIY filter I think I can modify, but I'm not 100% sure. I also thoughs about having the one filter in the middle then putting a pipe that was cut in half underneath so it caught all the water and gave some filtered water to the other two sections just so they didn't get that film at the top.

Are the dividers screens or just plain plastic sheets with no holes at all?

They are from Top Fin. They have very small holes in them.

Sorry for the double post, but there is now a film at the surface. I turned the filter up a bit and swished the water around a bit with a net. I will be adding two airstones in the sections without a filter just so it stay film free for now.

Hm, that's the same brand i have for my 20 gallon tall. And I get a cloudy film on the water that's not on the filter's side too.

It's most likely a protein film. I just find it gross and ugly so I try to keep it away. I put a bubbler in on both sides thanks to my dad and him no longer needing the plastic gang valve he has that divides the flow of the bubbles and makes it so he can have two airstones from one air pump. I released the girls last night and they seem to enjoy it being divided. The two that got the sides with the bubbles just watched the bubbles for awhile. I've never had a good air pump and airstones in their tank before.

I'm still trying to find a solution to my problem though. I would prefer having a small filter on each side instead of a bubbler. That way the bottom doesn't get so gunky so fast.

You can also lay a paper towel on the surface of the water and remove it promptly to remove the protein film ;)
