Nutrafin Cycle - Dumby me!

So I did something dumb....I'm starting a 14 gal tank for my male betta Neekis. He's currently in a 1.5 gal. Of course, I don't have much patience so thought I would use the Nutrafin Cycle like the guy at Petco said. Unfortunately, I hadn't done my research....so all I'm doing is "mini cycles" which I don't think is doing the tank any good.

I added Cycle for the last 3 days and I'm no longer using it. To get my tank back on track, I thought I would add some of the 1.5 gal water to the 14 gal tank since I'm changing Neekis's water today.

Do you think I should also add some food to the tank as well? Any tips would be great. (And yes, I read the sticky on Cycling...I wish I would have followed that from the get go!)
