My betta's tank shattered

Not sure what happened.
It was cycling.

So, it was a 10-gallon cycling tank.
I tried to ask another forum for advice, but they take days to answer.
In their emergency forum... I know, right?

I dont know what to do.
I have an old 5-gallon tank that I can use for him (it's too small in my opinion).
The filter hasnt been running for a few hours.

Thats because I dont know how to set up the unused tank.
I just wash it out, fill it with treated water and some gravel, and put everything in?
My betta's in a 6x3 inch potato salad bin, and he's content for now, but he cant stay there forever!

5 gallons is plenty enough space. A filter isn't a *neccessity*, but get it running whenever possible. Just use some elbow grease and no soap, rinse the substrate and decor and voila!

The filter is fit for a 10 gallon tank which is why i'm even more concerned.
Without the filter, i'd do a 100% change daily, right?

And just rinse with tap water?

Oh, and how do I dry my carpet without my mom knowing? :/

No...in a 5g with no filter a 50% and 100% each weekly is fine.

Hrmm...grab some bath towels and dab up the water...step on the towels. Then be extra nice and do laundry for her. If she asks why you are sucking up tell her you want more fish :P
Or find a wet/dry vac and do it when shes not home.

Big fat towels. Lots of em. Put them down and stomp all over them to absorb some water. I hope you don't get in trouble.

Ooh that happened to me! The tank shattered! I may be 30, but I still had to hurry up and clean it up before my wife got home. LOL.

Heh, thanks guys!

I'll wash it out when my mom calms down about the dishes.

I once had a Ecosphere shatter on top of my monitor. The thing fizzled and went out. I waited a week and it worked fine. :) Just don't watch TV for a while. Lol!

something similar happened to me! i used to keep Riley in a gallon size glass jar and i had just finished cleaning it and it was sitting on the counter directly in front of the sink and i accidentally knocked it over! it fell into the sink and broke! so now my fish is swimming around in a sink full broken glass! AAAAHHH!!!!! so i reach in and pick up my very slimy pet with my bare hands! so now I'm running around looking for conditioned water to put him in! i finally found some water, and now, a couple months later, Riley resides in a plastic critter carrier!
oh, and this actually happen TWICE at petsmart! i am looking at the betta rack and accidentally knocked over one of the cups! it broke and i piked up the betta and ran over to the cashier shouting HELP! HELP! ONE OF THE CUPS BROKE!! AAAHHH!!! i guess i just have bad luck lol! :P
