Hole in head - please help

One of my betta's has a small hole on his head above his eye, it looks like he has caught it on something. Now the colour around the hole looks different, almost like fuzz around it and i am worried about infection. He is in a 3 gallon heated, filtered tank. He is eating and acting as normal, just resting a little more than usual. I have bought some aquarium salt today but added just less than half a tea spoon as an introduction.

Should I contine with the salts and if so, how much and how often?

Please help.

you can add 3tsp to a 3 gallon. I would move him to a substrate free hospital tank and do 100% changes daily with salt added.

if there is whit fuzz in it it could be infected. add the aquarium salt and raise the water temp to about 82 degrees GRADUALLY OVER SEVERAL DAYS and do 100 percent water changes about every three days. also add bettafix or melafix
tell him i said get well soon!

Thanks Peaches, i do use Bettafix sometimes, i know some Betta owners are against it but its always worked for me without any problems. He does look a fraction better today.
