PLEASE HELP!! critter carriers

right now my two boys live in half gallon critter carriers. i change the water once a week. is this ok? i know it's not the best setup but petcos tanks are way overpriced and this is the best i can do right now, being 12 years old and not able to spend $100 on two tanks. will they be ok in critter carriers?

I had a boy and a girl in half gal critter carriers for a couple months. I had a few live plants (anachris) in with them too, some I just left floating on the top of the water to give them something to hide in. They should be ok, but I would probably change the water more often than once a week, at least 3 times a week just to keep the levels down. It's real easy to change the water, just get yourself a coffee mug and take a scoop or two out every other day, and on the weekends you can do a full water change. The pro's to a small tank like that is, it takes just a min or two to fully change the water =)

Well you can actually buy a big tupperware container at the 99 cent store as a temporary container for them until you get the proper setup for them. (ask for two 2 gallons filtered and heated for X-mas maybe?) Until then i would do 100% water changes daily and i would monitor the temp and make sure it stays around 80 degrees.

If you have a petco or petsmart nearby you can get 2.5 gallon kritter keepers for like $11. After that you can save up for heater. Alot of people say marineland is a good heater brand, but they are pricey so try (if you have petsmart) the topfin brand heaters. If they don't get the job done for you then you can try the pricey ones. You don't need a filter you can just keep up with your waters changes once a week.

Imo in a 2.5g tank you will need to do water changes twice a week. In the one you have atm daily! Defo get something bigger. It wont cost much at all
