New DBCT Boy!

Hi all,
So I got this five gallon tank and two decorations for my birthday from my brother, and, of course, that just gave me an excuse to get another betta. I made my dad go to 5 stores before I could finally find a DBT... so he's on a bit of a couch "vacation" right now. XD I would have gotten another boy, because I was planning on dividing the five gallon, but the DBT's here are $12.99, and I couldn't afford another boy... so this guy got the whole tank to himself.

Yes, his fins are a little ratty, and (you guessed it) he's parasitic (...what is it with me and choosing parasitic fish???) but you don't see many DBCTs around (around here, at least.)

I promised one of my friends I would name a betta "Waffle-of***us" so... I guess I'll name him that- with Waffle for short.

The tank is a bit too spacious, but I'll be buying more plants, etc in the next few days.

(Sorry about the fingerprints and water marks.)

Yep. XD Waffle-of***us. She comes up with some pretty quirky names.

Thank you both!

Actually, yes... If I can find a DBCT female (which I probably won't, lol) or at least a CT female that has his colors, I will consider it. :)

He's pretty but he's not a CT. He's a comb-tail VT DBT. He's what happens if you mix a CT with a VT (and in this case a VTDBT). To be a true CT he would have to have at least 30% ray reduction.

Crossing him with a CT female will give you some true CTs but not as many if you had a true CT male. You may even get some standard VT's mixed in there.

Oh.. and a word of warning.. don't cross DBT with DBT... that's a big no no because it leads to lots of bent spines, short bodies, swim bladder problems, and all the problems that come with those. Your best bet is crossing a DBT with a DBT geno.

Oh, thank you! I didn't know that. And about the breeding, I definitely won't do that, didn't know that either. There's a million to 1 chance that I'll find a female DBT, anyway.
