HI Everybody!

I'm new here and I just got my first betta. Rescued him from wal-mart, his in a 10 gal tank with a filter and heater and hes getting use to his new more spacious home. He is very excited every time I come close to his tank. He is eating well but I want to switch him from flakes to pellets... is that good?

He is a crowntail betta and his name is Jose
Here are some pics!

One quick question, his fins are not straight or they were damaged when I got him, specifically his pelvic fins, what should I do? I don't think there rotten but its not right.

Maybe aquarium salt? Other than that he's beautiful!

Well switching from flakes to Pellets is perfectly fine, also the pelvic fins just might be like that its okay but maybe someone else can tell you differ and MAYBE there is a way to fix it. I would doubt it:)!!

Hes so adorably cute!! i love the blue on him!!

I used to have a fish with fins like that- they never changed, no matter what I did.
switching from flakes to pellets is perfectly fine :)

He's very pretty! Certainly not short of finnage.

He's beautiful! Gorgeous :3 Reds are really becoming my favorite colorations.... To answer your question, at the moment just try keep his water crystal clear (: Do water changes daily (since he's in a larger tank, maybe a 30% change?). He COULD be a biter, so watch him and see if he starts doing something like "chasing his tail". His tail might or might not heal up, but either way he's gorgeous (:

Thanks for the great comments, I'm really excited, do they grow any bigger, I don't know his age but I'm guessing he's still very young.

well they dont grow that big i dont know how many inches they get but not that big:)

Usually they grow to be abouttt ... maybe 1.5-2 inches, depending on your boy himself ^_^ Some stay smaller, some get BIG, and others are just medium (:

i agree!!

im happy for you aswell because most new betta owners always get vases and small tanks im hapry that you are prepared and have that big of one!!!
