HELP! filter question!

right now, my two bettas live in half gallon critter-tote things. i was wondering if i bought this filter, can i get a larger critter tote, like one gallon, and put this in it? and how long do i have to let it run before adding the fish? how often should i clean the tank?

i would HIGHLY recommend at least a 2.5g critter keeper.
your fish will thank you for more space they arent much
more expensive either tbh. and you can decorate them better.

you can leave the filter run for an hour or so, mainly to allow the water to become nice and clean/clear. make sure you rinse out the new filter. gets rid of dust or chemicals that might be on it from factory

for a 2.5g you will need to change the water twice per week 100%. filter makes no difference there unfortunetly lol.

I have 2 2.5 gallon critter keepers and I have a 25 watt Marineland stealth visitherm in one of them. I clean mine out once a week.

+1 on all points. Instead of spending the money on a filter, perhaps get a bigger (2.5g) critter keeper. IMO/E it really isn't worth cycling/using a filter in anything smaller than a 5 gallon because of the water changes you are still going to have to do.

Agreed with everyone else! What with the money they charge for those stupid critter keepers you could get a whole 5g fishtank for $5 more!

There is a little rule about fishkeeping that goes: always buy the biggest tank you can afford!!!

I would go so far as to recommend a 5g if these are your first bettas.
