can he see his reflection in the glass? Try turning the light on the aquarium out (if he has one) and covering the tank.

He may still see himself. If he is flaring at a particular object or part of the tank then covering it or removing the object will help as well.

My crowntail goes down into the corner of his tank where my mesh divider is (my other CT is no where's in his line of vision, flares, swims in a zig zag rapidly, freaks out and swims to the top really fast, and repeats the process. Haha! Maybe it's a CT thing? ;) My bf thinks he is playing in the current. I think he's mental. My other CT I've never seen flare. He prefers stalking things.
I don't really have any other suggestions than to cover the sides of your tank/turn light off so it's not as reflective.

Talking My CT is mental LOL

I have a ct that also is unusual, very cool and beautiful however, is relativle violent and i will no longer nreed him.

He also abandons his bubble nest upon completion, and will hang out at the bottom until I hover over his planted tank..

Can we see a pic?

Thats good news! Maybe he was just acting out, he is a male! lol,,,i know alot of bettas are looking to do the natural thing and explore, find new places to swim and find new female bettas...these could be things you could provide him with...
