Don't buy at wal-fart

PRODUCT WARNING!
Well, when I got my betta / rescued my betta from wal-fart, I also bought a heater from them as well. I recommend that you DO NOT buy this heater! It did not heat the tank and was weird switching on an off for only a few minutes then it would sit for an hour or two and do nothing! The temps were 72-71 and Jose was very lethargic and slow. The box said it was an internal regulated temperature of 75-78 degrees. After about 1 week I didn't see it going on at all and it probably broke. I found a older heater that I can control the temperature and it is wonderful! Tank temps are better and Jose is more active! Below is a pic, warning, do not get even it its a low price!!!!!
I think the manufacturer is Tetramate or something like that.

I have that same heater, and it works alright for me. I don't use it in the summer, but I do when Fall comes around. It always keeps my tank 76 degrees or higher. I know that the first heater I got was that one, and I had to return it because it didn't work too well, but since I got the replacement, it's been working fine.

Maybe you could return it and get a replacement?

I have three of these and they all work just fine. Maybe yours was just defective. Take it back.

I was planning to get this one in the future, but I might just stick with the type I already have (hydor mini). Sometimes though, products can mess up if theres something already wrong with it, but if you return it and get another, it might work fine. Though it's time consuming! I think products that can have defects in them should be worked on, that way they'd get more money and people would be more happy with it, haha
:)

Kinda off topic, but I like the gravel mixtures in the tank, it's pretty!

With heaters you get what you pay for. Shelling out the extra money and getting an adjustable heater is always a good idea. I do have a couple of these heaters lying around just in case I need them but they never work well unless your room temp is already around 74*+

I've had that heater for 4 years, love it, and never had a problem with it!

I have had that exact same heater for my Betta, various former fish, and my sister’s hybrid cichlid and it has worked fine for a year and a half. Never had a single issue and it keeps the water a warm, 78 degrees F. Maybe yours was defective?

My daughter-in-law had one of those for a small tank years ago and while it worked well for a while, it quit/broke after a time.
