My First Betta

OK, after reading up and doing some water tests and committing to frequent, large water changes... I went and got my betta today for my 2.5gal tank. I got him at PetSmart because he seemed to "like" me, insamuch as you can tell in that tiny little cup. I acclimated him to his new home over a period of about 3 hours and he is swimming around lots and lots in the tank.

Anyway, here he is. I think I'm going to name him Finnick :)

Here are a couple more pictures of Finnick. I just realized his colors match the gravel in his tank!

Thank you! He seems to enjoy the filter. I was worried but he keeps swimming up to it and doing a fishy-treadmill thing, which is kind of fun to watch.

One other question... do you see the spots on his top (dorsal?) fin? They appear to be blue but I just want to make sure they're part of his coloring and not anything to worry about.

he's adorable, he looks like my clampy, and very happy too.
The spots are normal, a kind of lace pattern, it is actually quite beautiful, I've heard it referred to as "black lace" before, you can google images of black lace bettas :)
I bet he will color up gorgeously!

Thanks! I did look on google for images of black lace patterning and that does look like what he's got (obviously not black, though, just darker spots of blue). He's been very active all day; is there any particular behavior I should look for to tell if he is stressed or unhappy? I did feed him 2 pellets of food and he gobbled them up rather excitedly :D

Thanks! I got the tank at Petsmart. It's an Aqueon 2.5 gallon Mini Bow.
