Thai breeding method. Is it easy and safe?

I was thinking if the thai breeding method really is that good or not. Because even if you condition them well, and just leave them there, wouldn't the female be devastated? Also, is it really that easy? Is it all about judging? What do you guys think?

I think it really is effective, looking at the bettas from all over Thailand. They're really great. But I dont really think its worth a try for me, an above average hobbyist... I dont want to risk my female that way...
