Help!

Argh,I was setting up the 5 gallon I got off of craigslist and I left for a moment to get more water to finish filling it up....and my dog (Molly) had gotten into the filter wheel and torn it apart So now the filter will not work....I'm still going to move Apollo (My "moms" betta.) into the 5 gallon since he's been in a temp. 1 gallon tank for awhile and he's starting to get less active. I have the correct heater and everything but It will be at least 2 weeks before I can get either a new filter or new filter part. How often will I have to do water changes and how much of the water?

I would say... about 25% three times weekly along with a complete 100%

Do you plan to add live plants?

What part of the filter did the dog eat? post a pic of it and maybe you can fix it or use something else for the part that was destroyed......bad Molly....lol....my cats like to drop the lights in the tanks on a regular basis from jumping on the lower tanks...bad kitty cats......lol.....
