Help!!

I got IAL for my betta Sokka to help him and keep him healthy and they just came in the mail.

Prior to that tho, i put aquarium salt inside a water change to help with the splits in his fins.

The medicine for his velvet wasnt coming fast enough so i googled other remedies and found someone said putting pennies in a tank helps. So i did that.

He looked fine, so i went out for a few hours with the lights off and I come back

AND HES TURNING WHITE! O_O T_T

and he wont even flare now! What do I do?!

Ouch, that sounds bad. I suggest taking the penny out and doing an immediate water change until someone else can help. Seeing as you don't know where the penny has been, you don't know what could be on it, so scrub the tank down very well.

I scrubbed the pennies really well before dropping them in, but he turned back to being a dark cobalt blue. Someone asked me if he was in complete darkness before i noticed the sudden color change and I said yeah. THey told me betta's get pretty pale when they're sleeping, i never knew that lol now i feel silly for worrying so much

Lol that is true. My betta gets pale when it's dark and he's in "sleep mode" than once he wakes up he turns his usual colour :)

I don't think my betta does that, but I don't think I've ever caught him asleep. Probably because I have a 110lb dog bouncing around, and Russell wakes up before I do.

the metals in the penny may have affected him in some way.

Also their might have been a chemical or something on the penny that affected him, especially if it was not cleaned thoroughly first

I think I would take the pennies out.
