My daily breeding journal

31-8-2010, Tuesday.
Its the 4th day of conditioning for my breeding pair ( Copper fancy ). So fa, everything seems to be going well. The female looks bloated, has bars, and is quite aggressive. In the noon, I placed the pair's tank next to each other, and another female in the middle. So that both can see the 3rd party female. I observed the fancy female reactions, and it looked like she wanted to break out of the glass and kill the female. By then, the 3rd party was the center of attention. The fancy female also kept swimming towards the male, wagging her tail, swimming up and down.
I left it there for 5 minutes, I put the 3rd party back. And resumed their daily conditioning period. I really hope my 3rd attempt of breeding succeeds. Oh please!

1-9-2010, Wednesday.
Hey everyone, Im back to update. I soaked my breeding tub in very hot water, and dried it. I slowly poured water in to the tub, and now Im leaving it there untill tomorrow. I will be introducing the male into the tub tomorrow, and the female on Friday. I placed 4 pieces of ketapang leaves, and 2 Styrofoam cup. So the male has a choice to build his nest.
Previously, I aged water in a pail, added a piece of ketapang. I looked at the water today, and found out that there's tiny tiny mosquitoes in it. Im not sure why, but without the ketapang, the mosquitoes dont appear. I am conditioning the pair, twice a day, and the female with another female twice a day too. Also feeding more than usual. Really hope to have my first successful spawn.

@dramaqueen. Thanks.

Night Mosquitoes (bite at night) prefer dark/dirty water to lay their eggs in. While daytime Mosq's (bite during daytime) prefer clear water.
Mosquitoes are the main reason why I keep male with fry for 1 month. And the ketapang or any other leaf are in a way, baby food for mosq's - at least the slime or what ever that grows on them are.
Just make sure they don't grow out of control.
