API master test kit is a pretty good hobby grade kit that test for: Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH

It will last forever and kinda fun and easy to use, plus you learn about water quality and how it relates to fish and behavior changes.....water testing is a good habit to get you can impress your friends when they come over to see your

Strips are good too, I use both strips and reagent type and found them to to be the long run the liq reagent is cheaper than the strips- I like the strips for quick checks and they are fast and easy to use

Having a way to test your water is needed especially when you are fishless cycling and to tell you when the cycle is completed on fish-in cycle as well as how much and how often to change the water when cycling fish in.

The very best water test product is one you will use.......
