OMG! Today I looked into my tropical 14gal tank, and found that one of my Silver hatchetfish was missing. The tank is hooded, with light bulbs in the hood that have plastic shields covering them. The Silver hatchetfish stay at the top, and one had apparently taken to jumping, because I have occasionally been hearing splashes in there. Today it started again, and I went over to look, and it was all fine, he stopped. I went back to type and then the splashes continued, but I thought nothing of it. Then, when I went to the tank to feed the fish, I found that one of the hatchetfish was missing. I was worried, and searched everywhere. Then, when I lifted the hood, laying on the plastic light shield was the hatchetfish. There's about a 2 inch space between the bulb and the shield, and the hatchetfish was lying on the shield. I quickly tried to get him out, but ended up scraping up the fried body of a fish. I'm so sad when I think about it. He was just slowly being fried alive

Unbelievable. I've draped a small net over the light shield, just in case of another incident.
