Pardon the gaudy title lol
I recently picked up one of those dried pieces of wood.
It's got a big knot in it, which I poked out and cleaned up as best as I could so Sam could swim through it, not get his fins torn up on sharp pieces, etc.
Instead of sitting obediently on the bottom this piece of wood wants to float.
I thought it'd get a lil waterlogged if I just gave it time and settle down, but it continues to float.
That's fine, it's kind of interesting I guess.
My question is, in an unfiltered tank (and I change the water once weekly without fail)
will this cause excess gas to build up as the wood decomposes or will it be okay?
Will it cause excess algae or anything?
I basically just want to know if this wood should affect anything at all negatively.
I change the water and de-calcify it and salt it and keep it at temp, all in all decent conditions.
I never get algae or anything during the one week period.
I also have a live plant in there and some moss floating around.
Thanks for any input you have.
