around the house beta decor

i was just wondering... i know you can use little ta-ricotta pots in yor tanks but are there any other common items you use around the house that you can do for tank decor ?

Mugs are nice, usually plastics that are food safe can be used as well. Ping pong balls can be used for a little toy for a betta. Sometimes they like to push them around.

:D of course!! I am using 3 fake plants out of the 5 in my tank that came from a dinosar b-day cake. I also have a gorgeous blue glass whale sculpture in there, and some pretty glass stones. IDK if that qualifies as 'household' items, but it's cretainley not from a store so! Also a tip on gravel.... you don't have to spend money on special aquarium gravel. I mean, you can, and their cute and colorful, but in the sorta natural look of my tank i prefer nice 1-2 cm pebbles as gravel :D
P.S) ALWAYYYS make SURE that objects are O.K to put in ur tank or bowl or w.e before you plop them in there!!

out of curiosity how do you check if there safe?

make sure they're not pointy or can be harmful to the bettas. rinse them really well (without soap). they shouldn't have anything that can snag the bettas fin, or anything that can get a betta stuck.

thanks and can homemade ceramics work?

Probably, if the ceramics didn't have paint on them. It might run.

I use coffee mugs for hiding spots, works great!

Make sure the home-made ceramics is fired to temperature (this will be a different temperature for different clays). If it is not fired, the clay will eventually dissolve in the water.
