Exclamation Nervous now . . . can something be done??

Promise has been hanging out more than usual lately. He's always been kind of a lazy guy, but now he spends almost all time on the bottom, in his little cave, or on his favorite plant.

Which is what 1fish2fish's Freddie Mercury was doing.

So now I'm worried.

His tank is 5gal, 78 F, not cycled. I don't put any additives in the water (well water; my fish have always done fine in it) and have not tested it. I did a 60% gravel vac yesterday.

Also, I don't know if it's relevant, but I've noticed that his stomach has turned white.

Can I do anything?? If he's sick, how do I keep it from spreading to my other fish?

The only thing I know that can help sick fish (with some problems, it helps with overall health) is using Indian Almond leaves.
It doesn't cure sickness, but it might help some.
It's natural too.

I hope he gets better soon, :)

Hey Jello
Sorry to hear your fish is having problems. I have no idea what could cause his stomach to turn white... does it look like a pigment problem in his scales, or a blanching of his body due to poor perfusion? The only thing I can suggest is to quarantine him immediately and try to keep his environment as controlled as possible.

To start, if you don't have a test kit, I'd run a water sample out to your fish store and have them do a free analysis (they tend to use test strips but it's better than nothing) so you can try to rule out water quality/chemistry issues.

Best of luck!
