Updates for Sick Fish...

I did a 50 percent water change yesterday and took out the oxygenation thingy because it was really not needed. Today I got an aquarium test kit and tested the water. Everything is normal. So it's not the water. He's really really pale and he still refuses to eat. He's still petty vigourous as evidenced when I tried to get him into his little bowl so I could change the water. So he's still semi-vigourous. But he's still really pale, even more so than yesterday.

It's a one-gallon tank and I've only been doing water changes once a week, though I'm starting to do 50 percent water changes every other day. The water temperature is 78 degrees at the moment and is regulated so it's no more than 82 I think.

From what I can see in the picture, the fish looks a bit bloated. Has this bloating decreased at all, or have you seen him poop? Can you recall what the poop looked like?

The distension in the abdomen and the loss of appetite can point to internal parasites--if the poop is abnormal, it would give us a more firm diagnosis. If it is internal parasites, though, they are quite treatable and in my experience bettas and other fish respond very well to treatment and tend to recover in about a week after medicating.

I haven't seen him poop in a couple days. And I'm having a hard time figuring out if he's more bloated or less bloated. I think he may be a bit more bloated, but it's really hard to tell.
