Water temp/changing water?

So this week while changing the tank's water I've been blessed with warm weather, so I've been able to leave the water out on the porch in the sun to help warm it up.. now that it's already colder how do you guys bring the new water up to temperature? I'm not sure whether to remove my ghost shrimp while doing a partial water change where the temperature will drop, but I don't want to pour it in and shock them. The betta goes into his cup, so I can always acclimate him to it. e.e Any suggestions?

I fill up my bucket about 10% with scalding hot water from my bathroom (i have my own bathroom) I then take it outside and fill the rest using the hose.

Let it set 24 hours, Or use hot water with cold to get the desired temp you need,
Stick a temp stick in the water to make sure its the right temp adjust if needed using either cold or hot water,

I use to do the temp thingy in the buckets, Now I just use straight from a designated refill hose straight from the tap to the tank, I don't need to pretreat my water soo...
