i just hope he lives through this, whole reason i bought the 10g tank set up. it was just for him to live in, and i had all these grand plans of planting the tank and building this nice lush green habitat for him.

if he doesnt make it though, do you think it would be fair of me to ask for another fish from my LFS? i really want to house a single pretty fish in this 10g.

I don't know what your LFS policy is on fish returns from death. You could try asking. :)

so Ein appears worse and worse each day. i do 100% water changes and keep his water medicated, but to no avail. pretty sad for such a pretty fish.

He was gorgeous, but sometimes unfortunate things happen. Sprry this had to happen. My LPS gives you a 14-day period and if your fish dies within that period you get a new fish or a refund. You should ask your LFS though what their policy is on death of a fish though.

they told me 3 days policy on fish, however due to these circumstances i can bring the fish in the way he is and they will exchange him. kinda makes me feel bad cause i know they will just flush him. if i keep treating him maybe he stands a chance, LPS = 0% chance. he appears worse but managed to poop out a milky white film today, maybe this is a good sign that he is able to pass something?

Milky white film... Internal parasites maybe? Anyone else think this?

I was suspecting, but all that really betrays is the GI tract excreting extra mucus because of irritation, right?

Still, it's a possibility. I wish one of the really smart expert people would come in here. D:

My betta is going through the same thing. Try aquarium salt or epsom salt to take away the swelling. If the salt doesn't take the swelling away, try Maracyn Two, it fights several diseases. Test the water also.

well sadly Ein passed away last night while i was asleep, i guess sometimes you just cant save em all. RIP little dude. maybe i will try to find a new one for my 10g tank now, but it might be hard to find one that i liked as much as him.

Im sorry for your loss buddy. I know it must be hard. Im sure that he was happy to be out of that small container and that you made him very comfortable before he passed. :'(
