need help identifying this fish

Hey guys. I went to buy 2 bettas, 2 adfs, and 2 white clouds. App they didnt give me the right fish. Instead of white clouds they gave me something else. The fish spends its time on the sides of the tanks. It isnt a catfish. Im just trying to identify it so I can see if the betta will get along with it. Especially since when I woke up one of the supposed clouds was dead. Ill include pictures later on tonight.

that's an oto. they are small algae eaters. they will mainly skim the sides and bottom of your tank. they eat algae wafers or other bottom feeder sinking pellets, and your betta should get along fine with him. if he tries to peck at him otos are pretty speedy guys and should be able to get away from him. congrats on the new fish!

Looks like an oto catfish to me. They're peaceful and get along with bettas. Just go to google images and search for oto catfish to compare the fish in the pics and the one you have to be certain.

It's an Otocinclus, Oto for short. They're caught wild because they won't breed in captivity and chemicals are used to catch the Otos. In pet stores they often aren't fed the right thing and so are starved. Supposedly, if they live through the first week with you, they'll last a long time. They only get 1 or 2 inches max and your betta will be fine with it. Good luck with it!

Thanks guys. That explains why the first one died the morning after I put him in the tank. Damn pet stores.

So what do I feel him? I saw online they eat algae and hes been stuck to the glass of my tank since I bought him. I dont see any algae though so im not sure if hes sucking it off the glass.

actually upon looking at his stomach it is big. Its a little bigger than what it was in first pic. Is that a good thing or bad thing?

Also anyone know where I can buy more? I dont want to go to the pet store again since they arent treated right

You have an otto as others have said.

Fat ottos are healthy ottos :) You'll want to either get algae wafers to feed him, or blanch zuchinni for him to eat. Or you could return him back to the petstore and swap him out for two white clouds (after all, the other did die)
