Quick housing question

Okay, so tomorrow I have a male and female betta that will be arriving that I purchased on aquabid. I have a divided tank set up, but here's my question..

If I have a ten gallon divided and a five gallon hex (the 5g currently houses Nettle), should I move him into the divided tank with the other male, or is it fine to keep males and females in the same divided tank? The question probably sounds dumb, but I'm really just not sure and I'd rather find out before the fish get here rather than afterwards. I'm not planning on breeding any of them, and the tank is set so there's no chance the fish can jump to the other side.

I've read somewhere on this forum that females are constantly making phermones that will pretty much drive your male insane trying to get to her, and that having males and females in divided tanks significantly shortens the female's life span. You might want to give the female the 5 gallon

Thanks JK, I think I remember seeing that too now that you mention it. I have seen a couple divided tanks with a sorority in the middle and a male on the side.. anyone else have an opinion on this?
