cloudy water?

So per the advice I recieved here, I changed only 50 percent of my water in my 10 gallon this week, hoping it will be cycled eventually...I also got out the waste etc. But now the water looks cloudy....I am not sure changing half the water did any good. Should I leave it, or just clean my tank 100 percent like I used to with my 2.5 gallon? My fish seems fine, but the cloudyness annoys me haha. You all seem to know best, so I figured I'd ask :] thanks ahead of time

After doing a partial WC in a filtered tank, the water should clear up within 2 hours of doing the change.

hmmm well I did it yesterday....should I try another wc? I am worried about stressing him out by messing with it too much. Should I wait until tomorrow? I think he is starting to act a little weird, but hard to say.

I take it the tank is not completely cycled yet? If the cloudiness is a whitish color, it COULD be a bacterial bloom from actually over cleaning your gravel - yup, it CAN be done!!!

If your fish is acting strange, I would do another partial water change - water only, though.

Make a 50% water only change daily until it clears up, usually after a 50% water changes with vacuum-once the filter is turned back on the water will clear in about 1-2 hours, if not, sometimes that can mean-your tank was really dirty with lots of left over food or the tank is still cycling-with both- an increase of water only change should help it along with removal of uneaten food between changes.

Make sure you have good water flow on the filter, you may need to do a swish/rinse of the filter media in old tank water or dechlorinated water

When you vacuum-only vacuum in areas that can be reached without moving anything in the tank or disruption of live plant roots- every 3-4 months it is a good idea to move the decoration and vacuum under them and a good time to move things around for a new look....
