I was watching my fish in the tank... and Zim floated up against the divider between him and Chance, and Chance was flaring at Zim, then he BIT A CHUNK OF ZIM'S TAIL OFF THROUGH THE DIVIDER!!! I had NO clue that was even possible! It's a HUGE chunk! I would have though Zim was tailbiting, but it's Chance! First he beat up Haze, then he just did this! I have to take him out of the tank, because he's driving me crazy. Grrr >.< He is such a MEAN fish! I guess I'll just have to send him to Michael, or talk my RA into letting me have a 2nd tank. I can't let him torture my other fish.

Ouch.:( it sucks that chance is giving you problems. If you made another divider about an inch next to the one between Zim and Chance, do you think there is a chance that theere would be enough space between the two to keep Chance from hurting zim?

You can always double up on the mesh in the divider. What I've done before is put a second piece of mesh in that is about 1 inch shorter than the first piece so the water flow isn't inhibited at the top (if your tank is filtered) that way the water won't stagnate. That way he won't be able to get to the other male's fins.

However, if he is that aggressive, constantly being in the presence of another male is probably really stressful for him and he would probably do better in a separate tank.

That's what I'm going to do, because I don't think he or the fish on the other side will be happy. He goes back into his own tank. That's another issue though... I guess I'm going to have to hide his tank during roomchecks lol... we're only allowed 1 tank. Either that or try to send him to Michael again.
