New to bettas...

Hello all,

I've been lurking for quite sometime now and decided to join because I finally got some bettas. New to bettas but not fish keeping. I've kept fancy goldfish for approximately 8 years, but recently moved and had to downsize and I found bettas to be the perfect compromise.

My betta selection is limited living in rural Alaska. I've only seen VT's that were red, blue, or a combo of the two. But I found these two in the mix, so different than I have ever laid eyes on. I had to get them and they now reside with me in their own 2 gallon tanks.

On with the introductions, here are my boys. First is Bowie...

When I got him, he was pure white. The longer I had him, the bluer his fins got.

Shimmering fins!

He really likes bloodworms!

This one is still unnamed, haven't found one that suits him yet.

Not the best picture but it shows off his pretty tail.

I love sharing pictures so look forward to more in the future!

Abby

Gorgeous! I can't believe you just picked up a 4 ray crowntail at your pet store. I'm lucky if I even see double rays.

The colors on them are so pretty! I'll bet Bowie (I have a Bowie as well ) was probably stressed and not showing his true colors. Most bettas will really color up once they are in the proper conditions.

Welcome to the forum. Hope you stick around and share more pics of your boys.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and compliments! I didn't realize the red one was so special. I am still learning about all the different color and tail types.

More pics!
