How to stop the flaring?

My 10 gallon tank finally finished cycling, so I got to relocate Amadeus into his new home. He seems really happy and interested in it, exploring all of the live plants and swimming through the bridge... but one problem. He is flaring a lot at his reflection on the back of the tank. I taped up some paper, hoping that it would cut the reflection, but he is still flaring quite a bit. Is there anything else I can do to cut the reflection? I just don't want him to get exhausted or stressed out by having to defend his territory all the time. Thanks!

Turn off the tank light!! it will create a reflection on the glass.

I wouldn't worry too much at first. My GF's fish Kamau flared constantly the first day or so he was put into his new home and now he's calm and chill just floating about and doing his thing.

Most likely he'll get over it once he realizes its not a threat and he's established his home a bit.

Just let him go (: Eventually he'll become used to the reflection, and he'll stop. If you keep turning it off when he does this, he'll never get used to it. The first few days he might blow his tail from excessive flaring, but keeping clean water in there with him will keep it from getting bad. Eventually he should calm down. Good luck!

Thanks all! He is already settling down today, and though he is still flaring a bit, he is spending more time exploring and hanging out under the bridge.
