Just a quick question!

I bought Roy a new decoration a while back, its a log-like cave. Well, it was in his tank for a while, and I noticed fuzzy white stuff growing off of it - and silky residue on the top of the water. I cleaned his tank, and the walls of the glass felt like slime and the white silky stuff was everywhere. I had rinsed the decoration well in hot water before placing it in there, so I repeated and left it in the hot water after giving it a scrub for a while.

I put the decoration back in, and a day later the silky fuzzy stuff is back, and Roy has a small case of fin rot on his ventral fins!
Anyone know what this is about!? I took the decoration out for now, obviously.
His tank is a 3.5 gallon heated, yet unfiltered tank. I clean it completely about once every 2-3 days.

Any clues on this would be helpful thanks!

Is it Fish-Proof? Did you buy it at a pet store?

I'd take everything out and use bleach as a precaution...just remember to leave it out in the sun and rinse really really well after!
