I'm debating over this. Bah.

What about Cortez and Maisie? What would I get? I HAVE to breed Cortez, that's what I got him for, and he was rather pricey so... yeah. My dad was not happy when he saw how much I spent on him. $23 isn't that much for a betta, really. I mean what's the big deal?!

Cortez is much more silver, the camera didn't show it. Both deltas, I think, Maisie's tail is so wierd (though she's got some nice ray branching IMO)!! I can't tell for her.

Edit- yes, I know, odd pair. But I'm wondering if I'd get any green bettas with irridescence, or something of the sort, since they're both irridescent-y.

Well, if you want blacks, you're going to have to get a female that carries the gene. Blacks are tricky to work with sometimes.

I would suppose you'd get mostly multi colors like Maisie. But with pet store bettas there really is no telling what you'll get...

When'd you get Cortz? He's a very pretty boy :)

It'd be interesting to see what you would get. If you want to do it, go for it, I mean, color wise, there aren't truely any "ugly" bettas.

Is cortez black or copper? I cant' really tell from the picture. Copper is red-based (I believe) so you would probably get a lot of red wash in the fry. If he's black it really depends on the genetics.

Melano is a gene that comes from blues. To get ANY melanos in the spawn you have to have two melano geno parents.

Black lace... I'm not really sure what would happen because I haven't read up on this much at all.

Marble black.. well.. its a marble so you'll get butterflies and marbles.

With that female your pretty much just going to get multicolors with red wash, probably mostly blue/turquoise based.

$23 isn't that much. I paid $28 for Tallahasee plus shipping.
