Battling the plague in my tank.

Well, my tank has been cursed with a bubonic plague (figuratively speaking)

When I went to work today, I had:
7 Molly's
8 Cory Cats
11 female bettas.
Clown pleco
African Dwarf Frog

Yes, tank is heavily stocked, and has been this way for a long time. Keep up with 2 water changes a week and everyone was happy.

Come home today, I have:
2 dead floaters covered in white
2 dead petrified on the bottom
2 dead petfified on the bottom covered half white
and a few oddball fish covered in white swimming around. WHich died by the time I took them and put them in with the old tank water to dispose of. I even watched one betta die from when I started me 20min water change.

75% water change and a full does of antibiotics and some salt.

Just found 2 more fish covered in white. They had very minor whiting on them that ive seen before and treated. Now Ive seen them again, fully covered with ghostly eyes.

Im telling you, its the plague!

Least all 5 of my males (separate tanks) are healthy.

Interesting. Maybe Chilodonella? It's a highly contagious parasite that causes a whitish film instead of cysts like we see with ich. You might want to look it up. If the photos look consistent, ditch the antibiotics and hit the tank with some malachite green.

From what I read this spread way to fast to be that... That said it speads and slowly weakends and then kills the fish.

One of my cory cats had half of its face missing... It looked like 2 face lol. One of the bettas I saw when I got home had some white, almost looked like powder on its face. I left if because it was swimming around fine. Figured maybe I caught that one early enough on. When I just they her in the trash, her body was covered in a white coating, and half of her, I would call it chest area, right side, was completely white in color. Internal color, not a coating. She was blue and red.

Others had a fungus growing on them.

The remaining fish seem OK... I did remove my last few betta's. 3/4 seem fine, 1 has a bit of white on it that I will monitor.

Also whateer it is, seems to hit the betta's much worse.

I feel as if one of the betta's got something... how or what Im unsure.

Usually when I have a fish die by the time I find it, its half eaten by the time I find it. None of the living fish would go near them. Also, all of the living fish, were kind of grouped in the very center of the aquarium, all fins clamped. The molly's especially. Now everyone is swimming around... But still passing lol.

Perhaps some kind of weird flesh-eating bacteria, then. D: Removing them from the tank and isolating them is probably the best idea. The fungus probably came post mortem.

Figured it out. It lies dormant and hits at 80 degrees. When dr2b was over last week we noticed some fin tears, which was an early onset of finrot. Did a full water change an upped the temp to 80.5. It activates at 80 degrees and starts taking action. Which ever fish had it infected the others yadda yadda.

Survival of the fittest. Takes 2 weeks to remove it from the water. Crap
