Lightbulb How to Clean the Fry Tank?

My fry are about 2 weeks old now, while some are large there are still some little ones. I keep changing the water with an air line tube attached to an air stone. However I can't remove the debris on the bottom of the tank without sucking in a couple fry. And it's not easy to spot the fry with all that debris.

Is there a way to remove the debris without catching any fry in the process?

If you don't light your tank at night, fry usually stay at the surface. With the help of a flash light it should be easier to siphon the bottom of the tank.

What I did was to siphon small amounts at a time into a clear container. I used a small 1/2 gallon critter keeper to be exact. As soon as I had that almost filled I would take out the siphon and look for fry with a flash light. I would net them and put them back in the tank and start over again.

It did take a little longer but at least you know you got as many fry as possible back in the tank.

I take 1/2 gallon out without an airstone and check for fry. Then I put my airstone on and siphon out 3 gallons. This works well for me :)
