Help! I tried to kill Maximus!!

Oh, I'm a bad betta mom. Maxi and I had an accident tonight. I never have my bettas around a sink. I always just put them in the cup and set them by the tank when I clean. I was distracted tonight by something and, well...

Through my tears, I very gently rescued Maxi from the disposer - thank goodness it was clean. He seems to be okay. There doesn't seem to be any injuries to his body and he is acting normally, but there are some tiny holes in his back and bottom fins and the crown point portions of his longer anal fins are a bit worse for wear. Is there anything I can do for him? I have him in a quiet place and I'm watching him closely. Anything else? (I'm never going to get over the guilt!)

Just make sure his water stays clean. If he's acting normally I wouldn't worry too much. I (oddly enough) have a co-worker who was just telling me how her old betta went down the disposal once... and they dismantled the thing to get the poor boy out! thankfully he was okay. Bettas are hardy fish!
...I always get paranoid about my garbage disposal when i do water changes.... Nowww I think i'll start plugging it up when I'm taking care of them!

i dont have a garbage disposal, and thank god i dont put my bettas in the bath room!

Im sure some aquarium salt would help in the tank :]

I would just keep an eye on him and keep the water clean, as Metalbetta said.

I actually witnessed a betta fish being lost that way once. How terrible :(

I didn't even have Nadador for an hour and he almost went down the sink. Such a scary moment!! lol

Glad he's okay!
