Something wrong with Madusa

My daughters Betta is now sick. Madusa started acting strange a few days ago, he is usually very frisky but now he stays on bottom of tank constantly. He is in a 3 gal eclipse, temp is 80. I did 1/2 water change 3 days ago and checked amonia which is showing fine. He is clamping but other than that, nothing visable. What in the world could it be? We have had him 1yr. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry you are having problems...have a few questions...
In the 3g tank, how much and how often are the regular water changes, additives used, live plants, filtration, how is his appetite and what are you feeding/how much...etc....overall how has his health been for the year you have had him, what is the ammonia reading/number?

I would start by making some 50% water only daily water changes for several days and see if he won't perk up for you and start eating. I would hold all for for several days as well.
In a 3g filtered tank I would make twice weekly 50% water changes on a regular basis to maintain water quality-with one of the twice weekly water changes include substrate cleaning with a vacuum or stir and dip method.
Keep us posted

Internal parasites are a possibility--intestinal worms can cause a fish to lose color, appetite, and become inactive. If increased water changes don't help, you should consider a dissolving antiparasitic tablet with the ingredients Praziquantel and Metronidazole. I have had some success in the past with Jungle Parasite Clear tabs.
