PSA: Old Threads

I feel this needs to be said because apparently not everyone reads the Rant Thread or the So What Are You Up To? Thread.

This is mainly for new members because most of the older members know better.

Please do not resurrect old threads. If a thread is more than a couple weeks old chances are the original poster doesn't care what you have to say or they may not even come to the forum any longer.

Resurrecting old threads pushes the newer ones down the line which may leave someone without an answer to their question. It also wastes the time of the readers when they find out the thread they just spent 5 minutes reading was posted over 6 months ago.

It also wastes the time of people who get email notifications of threads they have posted in.

So please, if you have something you want to say in an old thread either start a new one or keep it to yourself.


Also another reminder.. read the link at the top when you are writing a post.. its called Bettafish.com Rules.

9) Do not resurrect or bump threads without reason.
Please do not post to a thread that has not received a reply in a long time unless you have something substantive to add that is not more appropriate in a new thread. Similarly, please use "bumps" sparingly and do not bump your thread unless/until a significant amount of time has passed without it receiving replies. Excessive bumping is more likely to annoy other members than motivate them to reply to your thread.

PS... I'm not trying to call anyone out. This has been happening a lot lately by many different members who may or may not know that resurrecting threads is annoying.

....Or they can pm the person who made the thread...if it was that important to them to say something, they probably have good intentions and it wouldn't hurt to do so. I think some people might not realize it's an old post, so it's good to check first before posting.

This really needed to be said, because It's VERY hard trying to get an answer when someone wants to say something on a thread thats about funny things your bettas does. When your trying to get a important answer. Sometimes life or DEATH.

I also like how on TFK how if a thread is old there is something on the Quick Reply that says:


Old Thread Warning

This thread is more than ___ days old. When a thread is this old, it is often better to start a new thread rather than post to it. However, If you feel you have something of value to add to this particular thread, you can do so by checking the box below before submitting your post.

*Check Box Here* I am aware that this Thread is rather old but I still want to make a reply.

We should add that here. :)
