Heater

Since winter is coming, I'm wondering if I need a heater for my 2.5 gallon tank. If I live in Texas, do I really need one? If so, what is a good heater that is inexpensive and something that you could buy at a LPS and use in a 2.5 gallon?

you could get a Hydor Mini, but in my opinion it isn't worth the money. I would spend the extra money on an adjustable heater. One like Marineland 25 watt. I loveeee it. It keeps my tank (a 2.5 gal) a constant temp. where the hydor mini fluctuated wayyyy to much.

It says that it is Pre-set which I personally don't like, but if your house stays a very consistent warm temperature then I guess a pre-set heater would be alright, but I'm not 100% sure. All I know is that I really like my heater so far, since it is adjustable-- very convenient :]

Only if your temps are higher than 70*F. I'd go with a preset heater, they're $15 at Walmart and way worth it!

I'll have to check the brand when I get home, but I have a small pre-set heater in my 2.5 gallon. Thus far, it keeps it a steady 78 degrees. There is a green light to show it has power and that light turns red when it is actively heating. It's already been cold here in WV so I have no reason to think that a pre-set heater can't work.

I'll get you the brand and wattage tonight when I am home. :) It was $16 at my local Pet Supplies Plus store.

I just got the reflector for my 2.5 gal and I think Mike is seeing a little reflection of himself in the in front glass whenever he is a little bit back from it.. Any suggestions? I was thinking about trying some of that paper that is black or has plant pics and trying to put that on the aquarium to maybe have more control of the light.. Idk. Any ideas my 2.5 gal buddies?

Also I wanted to clarify. When I say he seeing a little of himself I mean he flips down his gland thing and puckers all up then runs to the front glass to investigate. I don't think he can see it when he is up close on the glass though. Do they just take time getting used to a light?
