True, but we'd already lost one fish to a cycling issue, and I didn't want to take any chances. I knew with the small bowl, a) I could see any waste that was in the water and clean it out immediately, and b) I could change all or most of the water frequently and keep the fish alive without breaking the cycle of the tank and what progress I'd made there.
He was only in the bowl about three days, but it made me feel better to know he wasn't getting weak or sick because of cycling issues. Now that the cycling has mostly worked out, all is well in fishy land.
